Apparently, I Went Back to School Too.

Image
Why Does Back-to-School Feel Like a Second Full-Time Job? My Kid Started School, and Apparently I Did Too Somewhere along the way, back-to-school stopped being just about new sneakers, a backpack, and showing up on the first day. Now it comes with emails, school apps, calendars, forms, lunch accounts, classroom updates, aftercare messages, sports schedules, and group chats that somehow become active the second you put your phone down. And somewhere, buried inside one of those apps, is probably a message saying my kid needs to bring in 14 empty toilet paper rolls tomorrow. I will discover this at 8:47 tonight. Welcome back to school. When Did School Become a Full-Time Administrative Job? As a kid, I remember the whole thing feeling pretty simple. You got your school supplies, maybe some new clothes, and then you went. I'm sure our parents were doing plenty behind the scenes, but I don't remember them logging into six different systems before breakfas...

Should Your Summer Baby Wait Another Year for Kindergarten?

Image
The Big Kindergarten Question: To Redshirt or Not to Redshirt Your Child? Hey  BUBS  parents! Today we're tackling that question that keeps many of us with summer babies up at night: "Should I hold my child back a year before starting kindergarten?" This practice, known as kindergarten redshirting (I just discovered this term) , is a decision that impacts your child's educational journey for years to come. First, let me share a little personal story. With my summer-born son was approaching kindergarten age , my wife and I have been going back and forth about holding him back. He is bright and quite social, but physically small for his age, and we worry about him being nearly a full year younger than some classmates.  Sound familiar?  With so many factors to consider - from academic readiness to social-emotional development - this decision can feel overwhelming for parents. Fortunately, the Hello BUBS community has lots of wisdom to share on this topic f...

Real Talk: Parenting Wins and Struggles of 2024

Image
Parents, You're the Real MVPs Let’s get real for a second. Parenting is a journey filled with moments of joy and others where we’re just trying to survive the day. As we wrap up 2024, it’s the perfect time to look back on the wins, the struggles, and everything in between. The Wins The first steps, words, or new hobbies your little one mastered. The meals where no one cried (yes, even the grown-ups). The unexpected moments of connection that made your heart melt. Sometimes, the biggest win is simply getting through the day. And that deserves to be celebrated. The Struggles The sleepless nights that felt endless. The meltdowns (from kids and parents). The constant juggling act of schedules, emotions, and responsibilities. If 2024 taught us anything, it’s that the struggles are just as much a part of parenting as the wins. They remind us we’re human, we’re trying our best, and we’re not alone. ...

Thanksgiving Vibes: Family, Fun & All the Fall Feels

Image
Hey BUBS fam!  It’s that time of year again—Thanksgiving is here! Even if you don't celebrate it, it's a  chance to press pause, hang with the people you love, and reflect on what matters (hint: pie is always on the list ). Whether you’re hosting the feast, heading out of town, or keeping it low-key, Thanksgiving is all about making memories, sharing laughs, and soaking in those cozy family vibes. Here’s what we’re looking forward to this weekend: Thanksgiving Highlights: 1. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade:  A total classic! Those giant balloons, the floats, and all the marching bands are such a vibe. If you’re watching from home, grab a blanket, some hot cocoa, and let the kids pick their favorite balloon (Snoopy is always a crowd-pleaser). 2. Food, Food, and More Food:  Thanksgiving dinner is the main event. Let the kids “help” (or at least pretend to), pile your plate high, and don’t even think about skipping dessert. 3. Post-Dinner Fun:  Feeling st...

Hey Hello BUBS Family, Fall Break Last week was something else, wasn’t it? For those of you in New Jersey, you know exactly what I’m talking about Jersey Week! We tried to pack the week with fun and creative activities, but I’ll be honest—it wasn’t always easy! We hit up some awesome museums in NYC (the dinosaurs were a hit!), tackled a few home projects, had playdates with friends, and even explored some new playgrounds. Despite our best efforts, there were definitely moments when we thought, What else can we do? How did you all make it through the week? Any fun activities or tricks to keep your kiddos entertained? How’s the Season Treating You? Now that Jersey Week is behind us, how’s the rest of the season shaping up for you? Are you soaking up the fall vibes or already feeling the holiday hustle? Whether it’s tackling sports schedules, school projects, or just getting through the da...

Image
Packed Lunches. Hello BUBS family! Let’s talk about one of the most challenging parts of being a parent—preparing your kid's lunch every day. We all know the struggle: trying to keep it healthy, exciting, and easy to put together, all while juggling a million other things. We’ve got some parenting hacks to make the lunch prep process not easier more fun for both you and your kiddos! Get Your Kids Involved in the Process ๐ŸŽ Why should you do all the work? One of the best ways to get kids excited about their lunch is by letting them be part of the process. Ask them to help you pack their lunches or choose what they want for the week. You can set up a "lunch buffet" with options like fruits, veggies, proteins, and snacks, and let them assemble their own lunchboxes. Not only does this lighten your load, but it also helps them feel more invested in eating what they’ve packed! Make It Fun with Shapes and Colors ๐ŸŒˆ Let's face it, kids are visual creatures (lol), and a lunch...

It's a wild ride, and trust me, it's not always smooth sailing.  But IAH, I wouldn't have it any other way. Life as a Parent and Founder Parenting is full-time. Between early morning wake-ups and bedtime stories, it's a non-stop adventure filled with love, laughter, and, let's be real, a fair bit of chaos. Add in running a startup like Hello BUBS , and things get even more interesting. Hello BUBS started because, as a parent, I saw the need for a safe, trustworthy place for other parents to buy, sell, and swap kids' gear. It's been a labor of love, but balancing the demands of growing a startup with family life? That’s a level of multitasking. The Balancing Act My days are a constant juggle of calls, coding sessions, school runs...
