Apparently, I Went Back to School Too.

Why Does Back-to-School Feel Like a Second Full-Time Job? My Kid Started School, and Apparently I Did Too Somewhere along the way, back-to-school stopped being just about new sneakers, a backpack, and showing up on the first day. Now it comes with emails, school apps, calendars, forms, lunch accounts, classroom updates, aftercare messages, sports schedules, and group chats that somehow become active the second you put your phone down. And somewhere, buried inside one of those apps, is probably a message saying my kid needs to bring in 14 empty toilet paper rolls tomorrow. I will discover this at 8:47 tonight. Welcome back to school. When Did School Become a Full-Time Administrative Job? As a kid, I remember the whole thing feeling pretty simple. You got your school supplies, maybe some new clothes, and then you went. This Week's Parenting Wins: Celebrating the Small (But Actually Huge) Moments

Image
"Some weeks feel like survival mode. But this week?  This week had some wins worth celebrating... and I'm taking a moment to soak them in before the next diaper blowout or meltdown over the 'wrong' cup." The Milestones That Make Your Heart Melt My win:  My daughter waved for the first time this week. Not just a random hand flail, an actual, intentional wave goodbye to her dad. And then she did it again. And again. I may have teared up. She's also decided that "uh-oh" is her new favorite phrase. Everything is "uh-oh." Dropped her toy? Uh-oh. Knocked over her sippy cup? Uh-oh. Had the dogs eat from her hands...  "uh-oh" (I love this stage). The best part?  She's not just babbling, she's  talking to me . Making eye contact, waiting for my reaction, trying to tell me things in her own little language. We're having conversations, and even though I understand maybe 10% of what she's saying, it feels awesome. And physic...

The Hidden Cost of Everything: How Inflation is Changing How Parents Shop for Kids

Image
As we just started back-to-school shopping, I'm pretty sure my credit card is filing for emotional trauma So there I was, standing in the school supply aisle at 9 AM on a Tuesday, holding a pack of 24 Crayola crayons that apparently costs more than my first apartment rent. I'm doing that thing where you flip the price tag over three times hoping it's a mistake, while my kid is behind me announcing to the entire store that "Dad, you're making that face again." You know the face. The one where you're mentally calculating whether you really need both kidneys, because apparently that's what it takes to afford a decent backpack these days. And then... my kid outgrows their shoes exactly 2.5 seconds after we get home from the store. I swear they do this on purpose. I'm convinced there's some secret kid meeting where they all agree: "Okay everyone, grow exactly one shoe size the moment your parents think they're done shopping for the year....

Thanksgiving Vibes: Family, Fun & All the Fall Feels

Image
Hey BUBS fam!  It’s that time of year again—Thanksgiving is here! Even if you don't celebrate it, it's a  chance to press pause, hang with the people you love, and reflect on what matters (hint: pie is always on the list ). Whether you’re hosting the feast, heading out of town, or keeping it low-key, Thanksgiving is all about making memories, sharing laughs, and soaking in those cozy family vibes. Here’s what we’re looking forward to this weekend: Thanksgiving Highlights: 1. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade:  A total classic! Those giant balloons, the floats, and all the marching bands are such a vibe. If you’re watching from home, grab a blanket, some hot cocoa, and let the kids pick their favorite balloon (Snoopy is always a crowd-pleaser). 2. Food, Food, and More Food:  Thanksgiving dinner is the main event. Let the kids “help” (or at least pretend to), pile your plate high, and don’t even think about skipping dessert. 3. Post-Dinner Fun:  Feeling st...

BUBS Update: Feedback, Changes, and the Road Ahead

Image
Hello  Hello BUBS Fam, It’s been an exciting and busy time for the app, and I wanted to share some updates on what’s been happening behind the scenes. First and foremost, a huge thank you to everyone who’s been testing and providing feedback during our beta phase. Your input has been invaluable in shaping Hello BUBS into a more intuitive and user-friendly platform. A New Look and Feel One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is our updated user interface. We’ve moved to a more cohesive and minimal design that puts functionality and ease of use front and center. While it’s still a WIP, the major changes are already live, and we’d love to hear your thoughts. Our goal has always been to create a platform that feels seamless and enjoyable to navigate, and this UI revamp is a big step in that direction. Reworking Address Autofill If you’ve ever wrestled with the Places API, you know the struggle. Address autofill was one of the features we really wanted to get right, but it wasn’t as ...

Keeping the Kids Entertained!

Image
Hey Hello BUBS Family, Fall Break Last week was something else, wasn’t it? For those of you in New Jersey, you know exactly what I’m talking about Jersey Week! With the public schools on break, the kids were home, full of energy, and ready for non-stop action. We tried to pack the week with fun and creative activities, but I’ll be honest—it wasn’t always easy! We hit up some awesome museums in NYC (the dinosaurs were a hit!), tackled a few home projects, had playdates with friends, and even explored some new playgrounds. Despite our best efforts, there were definitely moments when we thought, What else can we do? How did you all make it through the week? Any fun activities or tricks to keep your kiddos entertained? How’s the Season Treating You? Now that Jersey Week is behind us, how’s the rest of the season shaping up for you? Are you soaking up the fall vibes or already feeling the holiday hustle? Whether it’s tackling sports schedules, school projects, or just getting through the da...
