Apparently, I Went Back to School Too.

Why Does Back-to-School Feel Like a Second Full-Time Job? My Kid Started School, and Apparently I Did Too Somewhere along the way, back-to-school stopped being just about new sneakers, a backpack, and showing up on the first day. Now it comes with emails, school apps, calendars, forms, lunch accounts, classroom updates, aftercare messages, sports schedules, and group chats that somehow become active the second you put your phone down. And somewhere, buried inside one of those apps, is probably a message saying my kid needs to bring in 14 empty toilet paper rolls tomorrow. I will discover this at 8:47 tonight. Welcome back to school. When Did School Become a Full-Time Administrative Job? As a kid, I remember the whole thing feeling pretty simple. You got your school supplies, maybe some new clothes, and then you went. I'm sure our parents were doing plenty behind the scenes, but I don't remember them logging into six different systems before breakfas...

When You Have to Leave: Surviving Work Travel with a Toddler at Home

Image
A working parent's honest guide to leaving... and coming back I'm writing this from a hotel room in Colorado. It's 9 PM. My flight landed three hours ago. I've already FaceTimed home twice. My 4yo refused to look at the screen the second time. "Daddy, I'm playing." Click. My 1yo just stared at my face like I was a particularly confusing Ms Rachel video. Then she tried to eat the phone. Work travel with toddlers at home hits different. The Guilt is Real (And Normal) So the guilt starts before you even pack. You're mentally rehearsing the goodbye. You're pre-apologizing to your partner. You're wondering if your kid will remember this trip as "that time Mommy/Daddy disappeared for a week." Reality: they won't. Toddlers have goldfish memory for the stuff we agonize over and elephant memory for that one time we said "maybe" about ice cream. But knowing that doesn't make it easier when you're standing at security, watc...

January Check-In

Image
A founder's reflection on traveling with tiny humans, surviving snowpocalypse, and what's new at BUBS Happy January, everyone! I'm writing this from my couch, where I've spent more time than I'd like to admit this month. Between an international trip with two kids under five and a snowstorm that shut down New Jersey, January has been... a lot. But also kind of amazing? Let me explain. Our First International Trip as a Family of Four We did it. We actually did it. We took our 4yo AND our 1yo to Oaxaca, Mexico. If you're already wincing, I get it. I was you a few months ago, googling "traveling internationally with toddler and baby" at 2 AM, it's all so daunting the more you research. But here's the thing that made all the difference: we didn't go alone . We traveled with other families. And honestly? It changed everything. The Village Effect: Remember that saying " it takes a village "? Turns out, you can build a temporary villag...

The Reality of Traveling with Two Kids: Our Florida Adventure

Traveling with Kids: Our Spring Break Adventure in Florida with a Toddler and Infant Traveling with Kids: Our Spring Break Adventure in Florida When people say "it's not about the destination, it's about the journey," they clearly weren't traveling with a 3yr old and an infant during spring break. Last week, we decided to test the waters with our first family trip as a foursome, heading to sunny Florida for a much-needed escape. Let me take you through our adventure, starting with what I now affectionately call "The Airport Incident of 2025." Expectation vs. Reality Let's start with packing. When traveling with an infant, your luggage isn't just luggage anymore... it's a mobile nursery. We brought: The bassinet (because we know for sure she will sleep in there) The infant car seat (because rental car seats cost more than the rental car) A lightweig...

You can do a treasure hunt for them. Finding Your Zen on the Go: Parents' Time...
