Apparently, I Went Back to School Too.

Why Does Back-to-School Feel Like a Second Full-Time Job? My Kid Started School, and Apparently I Did Too Somewhere along the way, back-to-school stopped being just about new sneakers, a backpack, and showing up on the first day. Now it comes with emails, school apps, calendars, forms, lunch accounts, classroom updates, aftercare messages, sports schedules, and group chats that somehow become active the second you put your phone down. And somewhere, buried inside one of those apps, is probably a message saying my kid needs to bring in 14 empty toilet paper rolls tomorrow. I will discover this at 8:47 tonight. Welcome back to school. When Did School Become a Full-Time Administrative Job? As a kid, I remember the whole thing feeling pretty simple. You got your school supplies, maybe some new clothes, and then you went. I'm sure our parents were doing plenty behind the scenes, but I don't remember them logging into six different systems before breakfas...

February 2026: The Perfect Calendar, the Brutal Cold, and the Tiny Clay Heart That Made It All Worth It

Image
A perfect February, frozen pipes, clay earrings, and a whole lot of gratitude Have you looked at a calendar this month? No, seriously. Go look. February 2026 is one of those rare months where the calendar looks like someone designed it on purpose. It starts on a Sunday, ends on a Saturday, and every single day of the week appears exactly four times. A perfect rectangle. No spillover. No awkward gaps. Just four clean weeks of organized bliss. The internet is calling it a "Perfect February," and the last time this happened was 2015. The next one won't come around until 2037. So yeah, soak it in. This is the most visually satisfying calendar page you'll see for over a decade. And honestly? As a parent navigating this chaotic, beautiful, exhausting life—I'll take any bit of perfection I can get, even if it's just a calendar. Happy Valentine's Day (From the Craft Table) Valentine's Day landed on a Saturday this year, which meant we actually had ...

January Check-In

A founder's reflection on traveling with tiny humans, surviving snowpocalypse, and what's new at BUBS Happy January, everyone! I'm writing this from my couch, where I've spent more time than I'd like to admit this month. Between an international trip with two kids under five and a snowstorm that shut down New Jersey, January has been... a lot. But also kind of amazing? Let me explain. Our First International Trip as a Family of Four We did it. We actually did it. We took our 4yo AND our 1yo to Oaxaca, Mexico. If you're already wincing, I get it. I was you a few months ago, googling "traveling internationally with toddler and baby" at 2 AM, it's all so daunting the more you research. But here's the thing that made all the difference: we didn't go alone . We traveled with other families. And honestly? It changed everything. The Village Effect: Remember that saying " it takes a village "? Turns out, you can build a temporary villag...

Winter Mode: Activated

We're Back: Life, Elves, and Hitting the Slopes Sometimes life has other plans. And that's okay. It's been over a month since I've sat down to write a blog post. If you've noticed, thank you for paying attention. If you haven't, well... welcome back anyway. Either way, I owe you an honest update on where BUBS has been, where we're headed, and yes, some real-life parenting chaos in between. Here's the truth:  life got ahead of us . Between juggling work, family, and building BUBS, something had to give. For a little while, that something was the blog. Development slowed down. The weekly posts stopped. And honestly? I felt guilty about it. But here's what I've learned as both a parent and a founder: you can't pour from an empty cup. Sometimes you have to step back, regroup, and come back stronger. That's exactly what we've been doing. We're Back on Track The good news?  BUBS is back in motion . We've been heads-down working on...
