Our Pandemic Babies Are Starting Kindergarten: Two Moms on Letting Go

Two BUBS moms on sending their pandemic babies to kindergarten...  The letting go, and the hard first weeks From the BUBS community... These two stories were shared with us by moms in the BUBS community and published here with their permission. Their kids were born into the same strange year and are starting kindergarten now, one mom reflecting on the ache of letting go, the other on the tender, worrying first weeks when the friends haven't come yet. A First Birthday During the Holidays? Best. Timing. Ever.

  When your baby's first birthday comes with twinkle lights and holiday magic Our baby is about to turn ONE. And I genuinely cannot believe it. It feels like five minutes ago we were in the hospital, completely shell-shocked, trying to remember how to swaddle  (baby #2) while running on zero sleep and pure adrenaline. And now? Now we have this little person with opinions and a personality and the most infectious "Uh-oh" and she's about to have her very first birthday. Here's the fun twist: her birthday lands right in the middle of the holiday season. Christmas lights are up, carols are playing, and everyone's in full festive mode. At first I wondered if that would make things complicated. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized: our kid gets to share their birthday with the most magical time of the year.
